Post by: K.Campbell on October 16, 2018, 04:53:14 AM
Just curious as to how clean you guys keep them.. I try and keep my super clean, my buddy never cleans his hardly at all.  When he does they are simply FILTHY..Neither one of us have many issues, but I’ve heard horror stories about slam fires etc....

The part you want to keep clean is the bolt: firing pin and channel. Dirty, caked and clogged firing pins are the cause of slam fires in the sks.

Yes sir! I clean it pretty much all at once... my buddy, on the other hand, almost never does..

And no oil or grease on the firing pin or in the firing pin channel.

Normally I use “gun scrubber” for a solvent /cleaner around the firing pin area, I also use it for the trigger assembly, bolt area and piston tube. I oil lightly the bolt slide and trigger assembly. Then reassemble.

I also use it inside the bore, then oil that lightly.
